Induction of New Student Judicial Affairs Council Members Reinforces AUN's Commitment to Student Development

The American University of Nigeria (AUN) strengthened its commitment to student leadership and a positive campus environment on May 26, 2026, with the induction of new members of the Student Judicial Affairs Council. Held at the Dean of Student Affairs Office, the ceremony highlighted the university’s dedication to fostering a fair, supportive, and development-oriented community.

Ms. Margaret Etuk, Chief Executive of the Council, emphasized that the committee is a mentorship and guidance body rather than a disciplinary authority.

“Our system encourages learning, accountability, and positive behavioral transformation,” she said, highlighting the council’s mission to guide students toward responsible decision-making and to nurture a respectful campus culture.

Mr. Sesugh Annger, Dean of Student Affairs, congratulated the inductees, reminding them that their influence extends beyond rule enforcement.

“The philosophy of the Judicial Committee is to help students learn a lesson, grow, and change their ways. This council transforms behavior, builds accountability, and strengthens the overall campus environment,” he said.

To maximize their impact, the new members received a comprehensive orientation on the council’s constitution, operational framework, and code of conduct, all distributed electronically. This equips them to handle a wide range of cases, from resolving minor disputes and misunderstandings to advising on more serious conflicts, effectively and fairly.

The newly inducted members, Mr. Noel Sashi, Mr. Emmanuel Best Thiza, Mrs. Monica Adama, Mr. Kefas Jawaya, and Mr. Dashik Senyen, are now tasked with translating this philosophy into measurable, positive outcomes across the student community. Through proactive guidance, mediation, and mentorship, they are expected to enhance student decision-making, reduce conflicts, and foster a harmonious campus culture.

The induction underscores AUN’s ongoing commitment to student empowerment, behavioral development, and a culture of accountability, ensuring that campus life is not only orderly but also conducive to personal and academic growth.
