The American University of Nigeria School of Basic Medical and Allied Health Sciences is an exciting, forward-looking academic unit dedicated to preparing the next generation of health professionals for Nigeria, West Africa, and the global community. Through innovative teaching, hands-on training, and a strong commitment to service, the School equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to address today’s complex health challenges.
Our distinctive approach combines concept-based learning with practical, real-world experience. Students are trained not only to understand health and disease, but also to think critically, communicate effectively, and lead in diverse healthcare settings. The School currently offers two dynamic programs:


Our Nursing program prepares students to become practice-ready professionals with strong clinical competence, critical thinking skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Students gain experience across key areas including medical-surgical nursing, maternal and child health, community health, and mental health, supported by clinical placements and simulation-based learning.
Public Health (Bachelor of Science – B.Sc.)The Public Health program focuses on disease prevention, health promotion, and population health. Students are trained to address public health challenges through research, data analysis, community engagement, and policy development—preparing them for impactful careers locally and globally.
Our faculty are experienced educators, clinicians, and researchers committed to student success and professional excellence. They bring diverse expertise across nursing practice, public health, biomedical sciences, and health systems.
