About the Program
The field of Data Science builds on Statistics and Computer Science, highlighting the importance of understanding the concept of patterns and trends in datasets and the capacity to uncover these (sometimes hidden) features using appropriate conceptual, methodological, and technological tools. Graphs and pictures generated from datasets tell stories, stories that originate from expressions of the language of statistics, and mathematics in computer algorithms that are executed to formalize conclusions from data for effective and more informed decision-making.
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Data Science and Analytics provides students with advanced skills in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data-driven decision making.

TThe broad aim of our M.Sc. Program in Data Science and Analytics is to prepare professionals and researchers (Data Scientists) who can exploit the growing volumes of data on the Internet and Data Centres, and freely available open-source software to process this data for more informed decision-making at all levels.
- Develop in-depth understanding of the key technologies in data science and business analytics: data mining, machine learning, visualization techniques, predictive modelling, and statistics.
- Practice problem analysis and decision-making.
- Gain practical, hands-on experience with statistics programming and big data tools through coursework and applied research experiences.
