The Petroleum Chemistry and Physics Department focuses on advancing petroleum chemistry through innovative education, cutting-edge research, and industry collaboration.
Our mission centers on producing graduates equipped to address global energy challenges, with a vision to lead globally in sustainable energy education.
Through their studies, students gain sound theoretical and practical knowledge required for the development of the petroleum and petrochemical sector of the nation’s economy, research, and industry collaboration.
The Department also supports AUN’s physics program and offers courses that support students pursuing degrees in various majors, ranging from Chemical Engineering to Natural and Environmental Science.

Vision
To be a global leader in petroleum chemistry education and research, producing graduates of very high academic standard with sufficient practical experience required for self-employment as well as immediate value to the petroleum and petrochemical industry.
The department also seeks to foster industry-ready graduates and environmentally responsible energy innovations.

Research & Innovation
- Key Focus Areas: Renewable energy, sustainable materials such as biopolymers and bio-based fuels, and environmental remediation including oil-spill bioremediation.
- Collaborations: Partnerships with Nigerian and international universities, industry players, and cross-departmental research projects.
