The American University of Nigeria (AUN) has recognized two staff members for their dedication, professionalism, and contributions to the University community, reaffirming its commitment to acknowledging employees whose work supports institutional excellence.
Mr. John Abah of the Marketing & Communications Department received the July 2026 Staff Award, while Mr. James Vandi of Administrative Services was named the August 2026 Staff Award recipient. University leadership presented the awards, with President Prof. DeWayne Frazier commending the recipients for their commitment to excellence.
The monthly recognition program celebrates employees who demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and excellence in their responsibilities, highlighting the contributions of staff members whose everyday efforts help sustain the University's operations and advance its mission.
Reflecting on his nomination and recognition, Abah expressed gratitude to colleagues and supervisors whose guidance has shaped his approach to work. "I felt very excited. I never knew I was going to be nominated. I want to specifically say thank you to Mr. Daniel Okereke, the registrar, who was my direct boss then. He has instilled in me a perfectionist spirit in anything I do.”
Mr. Vandi, said the award was an encouraging acknowledgment of years of service and a motivation to continue contributing to the University. "I'm very happy about it. Working here for so many years without expecting this kind of opportunity, it feels wonderful to know that somebody somewhere is recognizing what you're doing. It really encourages me to do more of what I've been doing."
