The President of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Prof. DeWayne Frazier, led a university delegation on Saturday, September 19, to pay a condolence visit to the family of late elder statesman Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, offering the university’s sympathies following his passing.
The delegation was received at the family residence by Hon. Auwal D. Tukur, who expressed appreciation for the university’s gesture during the family’s period of grief.
During the visit, Prof. Frazier reflected on Alhaji Tukur’s contributions to AUN and the nation, honoring his distinguished public service as a former Governor of the old Gongola State and his role in the university’s formative years as an early member of the AUN Board of Trustees.
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, former Governor of the old Gongola State and one of Nigeria’s respected elder statesmen,” President Frazier said. “Alhaji Tukur was an early member of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Nigeria. His wisdom, memories, and support were instrumental during AUN’s formative years and in the launch of our Atiku Center for Innovation and Training (ACIT). His contributions remain part of the history and legacy of our University.”
Prof. Frazier also extended the condolences of the entire AUN community to the Tukur family, the people of Adamawa State, and the nation, expressing gratitude for the late elder statesman’s lifetime of service.
“All of us at AUN join his family, friends, and the people of Adamawa in mourning his passing. We are grateful for his lifetime of service and lift his loved ones in our prayers,” he added. “May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.”
