Zainab Shamsiya Usman (PhD) is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Information Technology and Computing (SITC) at the American University of Nigeria (AUN). She currently serves as Chair of the Computer Science program, Chair of the Student Mentorship Program, and is also the Founder of the AUN Coding Hub, an initiative designed to foster innovation and hands-on learning among students.
Dr. Usman obtained her doctorate in Computer Science, where her research focused on advancing computing solutions that bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. She has continued to build a research portfolio in areas of computer science that emphasize practical problem-solving, collaboration, and student-centered innovation.

She is actively involved in mentoring students, leading community-driven coding initiatives, and advancing the integration of computational thinking into education and professional practice.
At AUN, Dr. Usman teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in core areas of Computer Science, supervises research projects, and organizes programs that enhance the learning experience for students. Through her leadership in the Student Mentorship Program and the AUN Coding Hub, she continues to inspire a new generation of scholars and practitioners in the field.
