President of the Student Government Association, Taslim Oladoja, has used his experience across two universities outside Africa to teach new students how to make the best of opportunities at AUN.
He wanted to study law abroad and practice it professionally in Nigeria but discovered AUN through what he termed "the power of a simple search." This was because he had used the Google search engine to surf the internet.
He has not regretted his decision but warned the newcomers not to be carried away by the many excellent facilities of AUN. He continued: "AUN is in a class of its own when it comes to student comfort, which is important for a conducive learning environment. Thanks to the Founder, H.E. Atiku Abubakar, we have air-conditioned bedrooms and classrooms, with 24/7 electricity, and internet connectivity, among many others".
At the August 29 welcome held for new students and their parents, Mr. Oladoja told the new enrollees to step out of their comfort zones to take advantage of opportunities that AUN provides.
"If you take advantage of these opportunities, you will become master-breeds from Africa's first development university and agents of economic development, and social changes that Nigeria, Africa, and the world crave.
"A lot has been achieved in the extra-curricular ambit and academically. It is more than I can say for the two other universities that I have been to."
Besides being active in student governance, Mr. Oladoja has been a Resident Assistant, volunteer in the student judiciary, active in many student clubs and societies as well as in various community service activities.
