The California State University, Sacramento (CSU), will be honoring AUN’s Assistant Vice President for Security & Safety Operations, Dr. Lionel Von Frederick Rawlins, for his outstanding contributions to international criminal justice education.
In the Division of Criminal Justice (CJ), Dr. Rawlins will receive the Distinguished Alumni Leadership & Service Award. A letter from the Criminal Justice 50th Anniversary Faculty Planning Committee headed by Dr. Ernest Uwazie stated that Dr. Rawlins will receive the award at the CJ 50th Anniversary Gala on April 13 on the CSU campus. Other alumni, faculty, students, and criminal justice leaders will be attending the anniversary gala.
“The event is an awards ceremony celebrating the many achievements of the Division of Criminal Justice...over its 50-year history…You will be recognized for your outstanding leadership in international criminal justice education.”
The letter also cited Dr. Rawlins selected accomplishments as exemplary. They include being the president and founder of The Von Frederick Group, California-based counter-terrorism and criminological organization, Associate Professor of criminal justice, Assistant Vice President of Security & Safety at AUN, as well as community safety training he has organized in the midst of the Boko Haram violence in northern Nigeria.
Dr. Rawlins joined AUN in September 2010 as a consultant and became a faculty member in January 2012. In addition to leading the university’s security force, he is also the Director, Center for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CDMHA).
