The American University of Nigeria was represented at the February 3 celebration of the Silverbird Man of the Year Awards held at Eko Hotels, Lagos, by the Provost, Prof. Muhammadou Kah, and Director of Development, Sameer Yeshwanth.
The AUN Founder, H.E. Atiku Abubakar, also spoke at the event on his vision for education in Nigeria.
The Provost and Director of Development also had a follow-up meeting with the Silverbird Group management on a joint venture proposal that would lead to AUN siting an office at the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos. The partnership is envisaged to enhance student recruitment, corporate, and executive training as well as offer internships and jobs to students and alumni. This will also see Silverbird establish a film school at AUN and a single-screen theater on the campus.
"I'm delighted with this meeting and hope this proposed partnership would expose AUN to the Lagos recruitment and the corporate training markets. And AUN will tap in from Silverbird Groups marketing successes," said Prof Kah after the meeting.
It is the dream of the Silverbird founder, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce to give AUN consistent airtime on Silverbird TV and make sure that it is aired from the AUN campus and “I hope that eventually, the students themselves will get to host this from Yola."
Mr Yeshwanth, said," We want Silverbird to establish an auxiliary business on campus like the mini movie theater, have a fast foods outlet and the like of Domino Stores to cater to the AUN community. Also, the corporate training market in Nigeria is huge and even if we have a presence like a mini business school in Lagos, we will have a steady revenue stream coming in for AUN."
