The university community has been reeling in shock since August 31, 2019, when news filtered in that the Director of Internal Audit, Boniface G. Sukat, had died suddenly.
The AUN Community Cooperative Society, which he once led as founding President, broke the sad news that Saturday, paying tribute to the former president for his pioneering work in the Society.
Expressing his condolences, Provost Muhammadou Kah, on September 2, reacted with shock but counseled the community, family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased to bear the loss in submission to the will of the Almighty.
In the same vein, the third and incumbent President of the Society Adamu Y. Umar said the late Sukat would be sadly missed by the Yola, Plateau, and cooperative communities in equal measure. He announced that the deceased's family had fixed the burial for Jos, Plateau State, on September 4, 2019.
The late Sukat, an AUN parent and doctoral student, was one of the pioneer staff members of the University.
Since the news broke, condolence messages have been pouring in from across the various segments of the learning community, especially on the Cooperative WhatsApp chatroom where Sukat was very active before his sudden passage.
