Founder's Day at AUN is a tradition the University is proud to celebrate in appreciation of our Founder, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON, and his vision for establishing our University, the American University of Nigeria. This year, we will have the Founder's Day Lecture which is scheduled for Friday, November 25, 2022, at 4:00 pm at the Library Auditorium.
We are honored to have Distinguished Professor Umezuruike Linus Opara as our keynote speaker and his lecture is titled: "Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development: The Role of a Liberal University in the 21st Century". This lecture is important and timely for our learning community as we continue to build on our vision as a liberal art university.
As part of the activities during the event is the recognition of the 2021 Outstanding Staff with award plaques. I understand the staff award selection committee in 2021 recommended the recognition of eight staff members for their outstanding commitment to the principles and ideals of our great university. I am sure you all, just like myself who is new in the University, look forward to this recognition as we celebrate every one of you for your dedication.
I am by this email requesting all Heads of Departments and Units to encourage their staff to attend. Also, the Transport unit will on Friday, November 25, reschedule staff bus transportation to 6:00 pm. This is to ensure that staff members have transportation back home after the event.
