Ahmadu had served as the immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and had also previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Coordinator, Arts and Humanities Complex of the same University.
He had held the position of Associate Professor of Law and Director Institute of Justice and Applied Legal Studies at the University of the South Pacific in Oceania. He was also at one time a Legal Officer at the Attorney General's Chambers in the Republic of Fiji Islands. He is currently Professor of Law and Program Chair, Private and Business Law at the American University of Nigeria.
