Message From the President

Thank you for visiting the American University of Nigeria (AUN)
website. The spring 2010 semester marks a very critical point in
the history of AUN as the University will witness a transition
to a substantive President for the University.
The search for a new president is at an advanced stage as the
University hosted two of the finalists on campus in the last
days of the fall 2009 semester. We expect other finalists to
visit campus in the third week of January 2010 with an
announcement to follow shortly thereafter.
American University of Nigeria, in partnership with American
University, Washington, DC, was created in response to the
demand for high-quality, American-style education in Nigeria.
AUN currently has three schools: the School of Arts and
Sciences, the School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and the
School of Information Technology and Communications. The Board
of Trustees includes prominent Nigerian leaders in business,
industry, and government service, as well as international
leaders.
The specific goal of the University is to provide the highest
quality education for youths in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa,
who would be well trained to be productive citizens, leaders
equipped with the knowledge and values necessary in business,
the professions and government. AUN is known to implore the
latest cutting edge technology in research, teaching and
practical. In the fall 2009 semester, the University
commissioned two new state-of-the-art petroleum chemistry
computer laboratories donated by one of the Board members, Dr.
Jemila Abubakar.
AUN has an accessible faculty dedicated to teaching, a
commitment to a liberal arts core, and an American educational
model that encourages real world experiences. Our small class
size enables us to provide our students personal attention as
well as the necessary support services to guide them towards
their ultimate success.
The new library project is ongoing and we expect this impressive
new building will be ready for occupancy this year. Also,
construction for the next phase of buildings: School of
Information Technology and Communications, School of Business
and Entrepreneurship, Student Leadership Center and the Sport
Complex, will commence in the near future.
We welcome gifts and donations to American University of
Nigeria. The generosity of our friends and founders has a
tangible and direct impact on the work of our faculty and
students. All gifts and donation are properly acknowledged and
some comes with naming opportunities.
We are particularly proud of our students and their deep
commitment to completing their undergraduate programs and
improving the world in which we all live in. I hope you, too,
will want to be a part of our community. I invite you to visit
our 500 hectare campus in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

Interim President
