IDPs in Angwa Michika Receive Donation from Community Service Office

The internally displaced persons residing in the Sabo Pagi of Angwan Michika, Yola, had a reason to be grateful to AUN when they received gifts from the Community Service Office.

Director of Community Service, Mohamadou Dabo, said the used clothes and shoes were donated by students and staff of the university.

The January 24 intervention was initiated by an AUN staff member who resides in the community and observed that there could be assistance to render to the IDPs. Largely from Madagali and Gwoza, they have been in the community for four years.

Addressing the IDPs, Assistant Director Ahmed Aliyu informed the people of the free skill acquisition and literacy classes that AUN organizes for people in the neighboring community, adding that his office would like to admit 20 of them into the program.

A representative of the women, Rifkatu Gambo, expressed her appreciation to AUN for the gesture.

"These materials will be very helpful to us because it has been over four years that we came into the community and there hasn't been any empowerment."
