The AUN Rotaract Club has donated uniforms to 50 pupils of Bako Primary School, Bako in Yola Town.
The school uniforms were distributed on November 30 at the school’s premises by the executive members of the Club with coordination by the AUN Community Service team and the teachers of the primary school.
The children were very excited about the gesture.
President of the Club, Aminat Babalola, a final-year Computer Science major at AUN, said their Club is an organization that helps the needy as a way of giving back to the community. She said as many of the pupils have worn-out uniforms, they realize they can contribute to helping them get new ones. “We try to make life easier for people.”
Vice President, Bashir Ado, a final-year Information Systems major at AUN, said members are happy to have completed their project for the semester.
AUN Rotary Club is the parent body of the ‘Rotaractors’. The President of Rotary, Mr. Olanipekun Olanrewaju, also accompanied AUN students while they executed the projects. He said it is a way of contributing to the betterment of the society. He urged the pupils to work hard in their studies so they can be among the future leaders of Nigeria.
“By reaching out to them, we are building our own and their future just like our forefathers built the future we are living in now.”
The Head Teacher said it would encourage the pupils to come to school more regularly and motivate them to study hard. It is assistance that will benefit not only the pupils but their parents and the entire community. There is a great need for the uniforms in the school.
