STARS Club Flags Off Three Rs Movement

On Friday, October 6, the STARS [Student Teams Advancing Regional Sustainability] Club flagged off a waste management campaign tagged “Three Rs of Sustainability--Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle.”

The Office of Sustainability Manager Raymond Obindu shed some light on why the Three Rs are important and how students can contribute to the movement by making use of provided recycle bins in residence halls. He encouraged students to separate trash into paper, glass, and plastics.  Mr. Obindu’s predecessor, Ms. Jennifer Che, now of the Natural & Environmental Science program, also spoke in the same vein.

There were music and dance by the XO dance crew, games, open mic, and other side attractions. The event took place in front of the cafeteria where they also set up a table with bags and mats made from recycled plastic bags.
