How First Year Students Can Become Champions, by Mr. AUN

Reigning Mr. AUN, Kazayet Zachariah, has told first-year students that they would be champions if they utilized their free time wisely.

He became the winner among seven male contestants during the last Mr. & Miss AUN pageant.

Mr. Zachariah recognized that ‘everyone has a star’.  “But it can often be a challenge for that star to shine”, he said.

On September 25, at an Honor Society orientation seminar organized for first-year students, Mr. AUN, who is also a member of the elite student society, narrated to the new students how he emerged winner of the competition.  “When I went to that pageant, I introduced myself.  And basically, I summarized the things that I have been through, the things that I have done, and the opportunities that I have keyed into in AUN.

“AUN is not just a tertiary institution.  Like every other, it awards Bachelor’s degrees. However, this University also presents plenty other opportunities for students to develop themselves”.

In college, students spend much of their time outside the classroom.  Zachariah recognized this.  So he set out to manage his out of class experience more astutely.  It would become the secret of his winning the pageant.

He advised students to make the best use of their time and to engage themselves in a variety of activities during their stay in the university.  “If you can actually utilize the opportunities that this university presents to you, the star in you will come out.”
