A friendly match between the staff football teams of Admin I and the Admin II buildings ended in favor of the former by two goals to one.
The match, which was held on October 17 at the GT Bank Football pitch, had the Admin I team in green jerseys and the Admin II team in red.
Director of Residence Life Bello Abdullahi said the match was a warm up for the start of the staff league.
Senior Director of Projects and the only woman to play in the match, Karin Rheeder of Admin II, kicked off the game at 5pm. Despite tactical play and pressure mounted on the opposing team, the Admin II struggled to have the ball pass through the defense line.
Captain for the Admin I, Salami Ahmed, who works with the Finance Division, had calculated that a long pass would favor them in the match. The game changer for his team came at the 18th minute. The ball was at the full right back position of the team.
No one would think that a pullout from the Captain at that location, to Yaro Adamu, who was at the full left back position, would be the magic to yield the first goal. Yaro had immediately maneuvered over the attacker of the Admin II team, sending the pass to Stephen Ezekiel of the Security Department, who was at the left forward position, and would send a shot that saw the ball in the net of the latter team.
The very entertaining game became fiercer. Although both teams were eager to score more goals, time would not allow. The energy levels for both teams were high all through to the end of the game.
