Dr. Dawn Dekle has officially become the fourth President of the American University of Nigeria. Board of Trustees Secretary, Barrister Idi H. Ali, confirmed her assumption in a mail to the community on Monday, July 3.
The Secretary wrote:
Dawn Jeanine Dekle, PhD, effective July 1, 2017 assumed the office of President of AUN. Dr. Dekle signed her contract in Abuja on June 29, while BoT chair Mr. Akin Kekere-Ekun signed for AUN. The execution of the contract was witnessed by Board Secretary, Mr. Idi Ali.
Prof. Le Gene Quesenberry, effective same date, reverts to the post of Provost, replacing Dr. Ahmad Hossieni, who served in that position in an interim capacity.
The Board of Trustees commends Dr. Hossieni and Prof. Quesenberry for their services to AUN, as interim provost and interim president, respectively. The Board also appreciates the services rendered by the two officials.
Kindly offer the new President and returning Provost all the necessary support to move AUN to greater heights.
Dr. Dekle is expected to arrive on campus on July 4 to assume her duties. The Office of University Events and Publications and the Human Resources Department have put together a colorful reception for the new President. It will include cake cutting to mark the Fourth of July, the independence anniversary of the United States of America.
