A team from the Atiku Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Development, American
University of Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to the Head of United Nations Office of the
Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, on the 26 th April 2018, at the IOM office in Yola,
Adamawa state.
Mr. Isiyaku Babayo (Monitoring and Evaluation, AUN), gave a brief summary of the activities of
the University with regard to community and humanitarian services.
The head United Nations Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Services, Mr Moseray
Sesay, warmly welcomed the AUN team, while also appreciating the team for the visit. He
stated that he has been aware of the activities AUN carries out and has interfaced with some
colleagues from the University, also stressing the importance of our involvement in impacting
our community.
He stated that the UNOCHA was established in 2015 and is involved in the coordination of local
partners, international partners, NGOs, adding that the body is here to support the state
government. He added that the objectives of the UNOCHA are Advocacy, Humanitarian
financing, provide relevant information.
He advised that the center identifies with various sectors which are Education, Agricultural,
Livelihood, Health and Nutrition Sectors respectively in the various states and also related
agencies into community and humanitarian services and other sectors we are involved in,
attend their meetings, provide proposals. He stated his readiness and willingness to be of
support to the center.
The team from AUN consisted of Hajiya Turai Kadir, Mr. Isiyaku Babayo, Mr Abdulkadir Damare,
Aisha A. Dahiru and Mary Dalughut.
