Communications & Publications
Wholly professionalized and reporting to the President, the Department has the following responsibilities:
- Assisting the President on internal and external communications, in her capacity as the University’s spokesperson and representation
- Managing the University’s Media and Public Relations and Perception Dynamics
- Publicizing the University’s Activities through Press Releases, Specialized Features, Photographs, short news and long documentary features, and video recordings
- Producing and enriching the University’s communications organs -InsideAUN, AUNthisWeek, The Weekender & AUNtv
- Managing the University’s official Website (www.aun.edu.ng)
- Developing and Warehousing the University’s informational materials, including photographs and video recordings
- Advising the Management on global best practices in the implementation of Goal Six of the University’s Strategic Vision Plan to: “Increase AUN’s visibility and develop relationships with diverse stakeholders of a Development University through active cultivation of Corporate Relations, Foundation Relations, Parents Relations, Alumni Relations, Government Relations, and with Strategic Individuals throughout Africa”.

Daniel Okereke joined AUN in August 2013, having had more than two decades of professional experience in journalism, media relations, marketing, political campaigns, and public policy analysis. He is responsible for leading the efforts to drive the professionalization of the Department and to strategically expose the AUN brand to national and international audiences. Before AUN, he edited statehouse.gov.ng and served in the Presidential Research and Communications team at the State House Presidential Villa, Abuja. He was also the Northwest Bureau Chief for The News magazine and Senior Manager Public Relations at ALSCON, Ikot Abasi.
A graduate of the Jackson College of Journalism, University of Nigeria, Okereke who has also studied Policy Analysis, Public Administration, and Mass Communication, is a registered advertising practitioner and is the Executive Director (Northeast) at International Association of Business Communicators Nigeria.

Innocent Nwobodo joined AUN as Deputy Director in 2011, after 27 years of post-qualification experience in news media practice. He went into newspapering after graduating with BA (Hons) in Mass Communication of the University of Nigeria, and served on the editorial boards of Satellite, Daily Champion, and Nigerian Compass newspapers. At AUN, he is responsible for leading the Editorial and Content Development team of the Office of Communications & Public Relations. In addition, he exercises oversight functions over other units of the department. He belongs to Nigeria Union of Journalists and International Association of Business Communicators.

Alumnus Omorogbe Omorogiuwa joined the Department’s writing team immediately after graduating with a BSc in Economics from AUN. He always had a passion for writing, despite his majoring in Economics. In his undergraduate days, he founded the AUN Press Club, where he honed his news reporting skills. Besides writing about students, staff and faculty members, he enjoys learning and mentoring, troubleshooting, and strategic management. Besides the desire for qualitative education, Omorogiuwa had joined the 124 pioneer students to contribute to the growth and development of AUN. Now he feels fulfilled working for the Office of Communications & Public Relations.

Ms. Grace Passa joined AUN in 2013. A graduate of Journalism from Bingham University, Abuja, she oversees liaison with the media and other content initiatives, as well as optimizing communication systems to enhance accuracy of information. She also manages the workplace to ensure the efficient use of tools and other resources for maximum results. She belongs to the Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and International Association of Business Communicators. Ms. Passa who has a passion for exploring other cultures, hopes to help develop an enviable educational image for AUN in the years to come.

Ebenmosi Mosugu, joined AUN in 2013 from the State House Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he served as a Programme Analyst and Webmaster for 11 years. He is responsible for managing and maintaining the online presence and all aspects of the AUN website - www.aun.edu.ng. He has a degree in Physics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management of AUN, and is a Certified Project Manager PRINCE2 Practitioner and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). He is a recipient of the “State House Presidential Award for Outstanding Performance” and a recent nomination of the current AUN website by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) in the Best Tertiary Institution Website/Portal category.

Alumna Nelly Ating, who holds a degree in Journalism from AUN, joined the writing team at AUN in 2014, after an exciting field experience in photography. Much of her writings focus on alums and the development work of AUN-Adamawa Peacemakers Initiative across Adamawa State. The certified Digital Media Marketer is responsible for managing the AUN brand online. She is responsible for creating and driving strategic marketing and recruitment content for AUN. She is also a published writer whose work has featured on CNN, The Guardian, Pulse Nigeria, ThisDay, Premium Times, and blogs across Nigeria.

Noel Sashi joined AUN in 2008 and transferred to the Office of Communications & Public Relations in 2015 to lead the Multimedia & Documentaries Unit. In this position, he serves as the Department’s archivist and leads the multimedia team. In 2012, he received the Outstanding Staff Award and the best-staff-of-the-month award in April 2014. He graduated from Modibbo Adama University of Technology and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration of AUN. His driving philosophy: with determination, everyone can do anything in life.

Ahmed M. Umar, trained on TV production by the A24 Media in Kenya, led the film editing team at TV Gotel before joining AUN in 2015. His responsibilities at AUN include leading and capturing official university activities and events in top-quality videos, coordinating the storage/archiving of official videos in retrievable formats. The aspiring movie director derives his motivation from watching Aljazeera, BBC, and CNN. His favorite quote: "Experience is not what happens to you; it is what you do with what happens to you." - Aldous Huxley

Nabi Yusuf joined AUN in 2011. She holds a diploma in Law, but in order to follow her dream of working with the camera, Mrs. Agbaje had to transfer to the Office of Communications in 2016. Before AUN, she had worked as a studio photographer with two firms, Fototek and Prestige Photolab. Trained on photo editing and advanced camera settings, she has responsibilities that include photographic coverage of all university events. She belongs to the Adamawa State Photographers Association.

Christopher Emenike Obaji joined AUN as a Videographer and Video Editor in 2016. Besides attending the Asian Academy of Film & Television in India, he had field experience in Bollywood’s Marwah Studio Noida City India, and later joined Nollywood and the Nigerian Television Authority, Channel 28, Yenagoa. At AUN, Obaji’s responsibilities include to camera operation, still and motion pictures coverage of official University events, video editing, and sound recording. His guiding principle, which drives his professional and personal life, is “Work hard, play hard, and always stay humble.” Obaji sees himself at the peak of the filmmaking and TV production career in the next 10 years.

Chiedozie Joseph, an experienced photojournalist with Nigeria Spur magazine, joined AUN in 2016. In concert with others in the multimedia team, he is responsible for the photographic coverage of all university activities and events. The graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, has also had experience in studio photo work, ending up as the Manager of Obi Bright Digital Studio in Lagos. He is a member of the Lagos State Professional Photographers Association.

Ms Hauwa Modibbo joined the Department as Audiovisual Assistant in 2011 from the mandatory National Youth Service. Now she takes charge of the production/publication of the in-house journal. The Management Technology graduate of Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, is also passionate about finding new ideas and skills.
