Department of Information Systems
DIS is structured into three units with the mission to provide technology solutions and services to the AUN community, to automate operations, increase performance and productivity, and empower staff, faculty and students to become outstanding performers, teachers and entrepreneurs.
DIS consists of three units:
- Software Solutions Unit (SSU)
- Instructional Technology Unit (ITU)
- Web Development Unit (WDU)
The Instructional Technology Unit (ITU), led by Miriam Wampana, is responsible for all educational technologies available at the American University of Nigeria. Some of these technologies include the use of Moodle, Turnitin, and eBooks. Basically any type of technology that may be used to enhance student learning and faculty teaching.
The Software Solutions Unit (SSU), led by Samuel Arabome, is responsible for developing, sourcing, customizing, deploying and supporting a variety of software applications not related to student learning and faculty teaching for the university and her associated auxiliary units.
The Web Development Unit (WDU), led by Muktar Usman, develops and manages other campus-wide web-based applications.
The Department of Information Systems is headed by Gabriel Fuster, an engineering graduate from the University of North London, with more than 16 years of international experience in IT related fields, including networking and software development and 19 years training & teaching related experience.
